Changes to Rules of Indoor Hockey
Based on recommendations from the FIH Rules Committee, the FIH Executive Board has agreed changes to the Rules of Indoor Hockey. These changes formally take effect from 1 September 2013. However, advance notice of the main changes is provided here so that Continental Federations and National Associations may, if they wish, implement the changes sooner for matches within their jurisdiction.

45-Second Shot Clock on Penalty Corners
A 45-second shot clock will be implemented for all penalty corners (though not in games governed by NFHS and NCAA in USA). After seeing that the time taken for penalty corners was gradually increasing, the FIH Executive Board felt this was an important measure to speed up the game while still giving teams enough time to prepare for penalty corners. The rule is set to take effect in time for the Women's Hockey World League Round 4 tournament in Argentina.

NFHS Releases Rules Changes for 2013 Fall Season
The National Federation of State High School Associations has released its rule changes for the 2013 Fall field hockey season. Highlights include 2-minute suspensions for green cards, sending early-breaking players on penalty corners to the center-line, elimination of penalty goals, and requiring that visible clocks run to zero.
