Stories from the Field Survey Results To Thought Provoking Video (and new survey)
At the end of the traditional fall field hockey season in the USA, a video was posted by a field hockey fan on YouTube showing that play was restarted following a goal while the team that scored the goal was in an NFL-like huddle and not ready to defend. UmpireHockey.com decided to link to the video and allow readers to comment on the event. The decision to ask whether the umpire made the right or wrong decision to blow his/her whistle was subsequently applauded and criticized by members of the field hockey community. Share your opinion on that and whether time should be stopped after goals in field hockey.

Link to a petition that will help you ask your state's athletic association to modify the 2009-10 National Federation of State High School Associations’ (NFHS) rules for the fall 2009 field hockey season by adopting the “self pass” option on free hits, long hits, side-ins, 16-yard hits, and the center pass.

UmpireHockey.org, a charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, announced today an agreement with Jersey Intensity Field Hockey Club, expanding the Captain of the Year award program into Monmouth County, New Jersey, and that nominations will only be accepted via the organization's website.

Stories from the Field Candidates for USAFH's Vote for Officials' Director
USA Field Hockey is conducting an election for an Officials’ Director to its Board of Directors. Voting began on November 7 and will end on the 14th. Members entering the polls on USA Field Hockey's website can only read a 100 word biography from each candidate before voting.
