Captain of the Year (USA|NJ|Morris County)
UmpireHockey.org announces the fourth of five winners of the Captain of the Year award from the fall 2007 hockey season. The fourth winner is Lauren Kusik from Morris County, New Jersey. At the high school level, the Captain of the Year award is presented on a county-by-county basis. The program began in Mercer County in 2005 and has expanded to include awards in five counties in 2007. A national sponsor is being sought to bring the award to the college level.

Use of Wireless Communication Expands
In 2005 UmpireHockey.com wrote about the use of wireless communication systems in the USA at the high school and college level. Euro Hockey League, like other competitions at the highest levels, has been using and expanding on the use of wireless systems. Now, in addition to the umpires communicating with each other, television producers can listen in and broadcast on-field discussions umpires hold with players and coaches.
