Are there too many whistles in hockey? Fans that don't know the rules certainly think so. UmpireHockey.com has created a form to collect data on the number of times each umpire blows their whistle and at what point during the game. Analysis of submitted forms could provide interesting information for trend reporting.
The form is designed to collect counts from hockey games lasting only 60 minutes (due to the fact that the overwhelming number of hockey games played in the USA are 60 minutes in length).
We recommend that for games lasting 70 minutes the whistles that are counted in last five minutes of each half simply be included in the last "ten minute" block provided on the form.
