USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce the opportunity for umpires to attend a Pan American Umpiring Course in conjunction with the Rabobank Champions Challenge (presented by Longstreth), July 8-10, 2005, in Virginia Beach, VA, USA.

According to the USFHA, "Emphasis will be on current interpretations of today's game, understanding the skills of modern hockey and what the players are trying to do."

Field hockey is changing rapidly and we must ensure all umpires are calling the game consistently. This opportunity to learn from top international umpires and top umpire coaches should not be missed. The USA Field Hockey umpiring division encourages and welcomes umpires at all levels to take advantage of this learning opportunity.

Richard Kentwell (USA) will be moderating the course. His umpiring background includes service as an FIH Olympic Umpire and FIH Umpire's Manager. In 2000 he was the Umpire's Manager during the Sydney Olympics. He is an active FIH Course Conductor and was one of my earliest mentors.

Jane Nockolds (ENG) will be the lead clinician. Jane is the former FIH World Cup Umpire and Umpire Coach. She currently holds the position of National Development Manager for Umpiring England Hockey and comes to us as a dynamic seasoned course conductor. She regularly provides information from England Hockey that is published in UmpireHockey.com.

The course sessions will be interactive using the latest video analysis technology combined with practical observation and analysis sessions in conjunction with the first weekend matches of the Rabobank Champions Challenge.

The course fee is $275.00 and includes course materials, meals including breakfast and lunch, VIP Rabobank Champions Challenge tickets, an Umpire Reception and dinner on July 10 and a gift in appreciation for your attendance.
