Question: "I was at an indoor tournament and they said my daughter couldn't play with her brand new stick. They said it was an outdoor stick and that tournament rules required that everyone use indoor sticks. Is that really a rule?"

Answer: No. Using the Rules of Hockey as your guide, you will find that there is only one stick specification that applies to all disciplines of the game (i.e. the same specifications apply to both outdoor and indoor hockey).

Even if someone, perhaps a stick vendor, wanted such a rule to be in place it would be impossible to enforce.

[EDITOR: The weight of a "toe heavy" stick designed to be good for executing a hit is an unnecessary burden when hitting is not allowed. A light weight stick designed for play when hitting is not allowed is a sensible choice.]
